The coolant absorbs heat from the engine and becomes hot. This hot coolant then flows into the radiator through the inlet at the top.

Heat Dissipation:

Inside the radiator, the coolant passes through numerous small tubes lined with fins. These fins increase the surface area exposed to airflow, helping to dissipate heat more efficiently.

Cooled Coolant Flows Out:

Air flows over the radiator fins and cools the hot coolant. The now-cooled coolant exits the radiator through the outlet at the bottom and returns to the engine to absorb more heat. This continuous loop ensures the engine maintains a stable temperature, preventing overheating.

Components of a Car Radiator

Several key components make up a car radiator:

Core:

The main section where the coolant flows and heat exchange occurs. It consists of numerous small tubes and fins designed to maximise heat dissipation.

Tanks:

Located at the top and bottom of the radiator, these tanks distribute the coolant to and from the core.

Fan:

An electric fan mounted behind or on the radiator that draws air through the core to increase cooling, especially when the car is idling.

Overflow Tank:

A transparent plastic tank that collects excess coolant, allowing you to check coolant levels easily.

Mounts:

These secure the radiator and absorb vibrations that could cause leaks or damage.
